BROTHERS AND SISTERS UNITED TO HOST
ANNIVERSARY CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
FOR
RACQUEL JOHNSON
Brothers and Sisters United of Tennessee State University and Fisk University, a Baptist Collegiate Ministry organization, will hold a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, February 19, 2010 at 7:30 pmto remember Racquel Johnson, the TSU student that was taken from us on Friday, February 20, 2009.
The vigil will take place along 33rd Ave N., adjacent from TSU’s Boyd and Watson Halls and in front of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry House located at 1104 33rd Ave. N, Nashville, Tenn. 37209.
The purpose of this event is for students to come together to remember and celebrate her life and to renew the commitment to be careful and be more accountable for one another. This event was birthed after a prayer vigil was held on Saturday, February 21, 2009. Students came together to pray for the family after hearing the news of the fallen “Tiger”.
At the event, monetary donations will be collected for a burial headstone to place on Racquel’s grave. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Our goal is to raise $700 that will go to the family to purchase a headstone.
BSU will also be wearing white ribbons February 11-19, 2010 as a sign of remembrance and a reminder for students to be mindful of their surroundings and to be accountable for their peers. BSU is asking all friends, family, organizations, etc. to also wear white ribbons at these times.
The event is open to the public.
